Located close to city’s Central Business District, the Wagga Wagga Health and Knowledge Precinct is a strategically selected mixed-use precinct surround the city’s two major hospitals – Wagga Base Hospital (public) and Calvary Riverina Hospital (private).

A Health and Knowledge Precinct is a mixed-use community area in which to live, work, study and relax. It includes parkland and green spaces, street-level retail and dining, learning and innovation spaces, entertainment facilities and accommodation options.

Wagga Wagga City Council and the NSW Department of Planning and Environment have developed a Health and Knowledge Precinct Master Plan which explores integrating complementary uses such as:

  • Higher density accommodation
  • Allied health
  • Aged Care
  • Commercial Spaces
  • Green Spaces
  • Healthy Living
  • Smart Spaces
  • Education

The aim of the Master Plan is to:

  • Define the overall health precinct around Wagga Base and Calvary Riverina hospitals, and also four sub precincts identified within the plan.
  • Provide a strategic direction for the management of competing land uses and development pressures within the health precinct.
  • Identify and facilitate suitable reuse of buildings for health and allied health practices.
  • Maximise opportunities for complementary activities including hospitality and accommodation.
