2015 mid year update
It’s been more than six months since the People’s Panel began and so far four different topics have been discussed amongst members.
Below are updates on how the feedback from the People’s Panel on each topic is being considered within Council.
Council’s Parks and Recreation team is currently considering the feedback provided by the People’s Panel as it works towards finalising the Playground Strategy. The strategy is expected to be presented to Council later in the year.
Unapproved serviced Apartments
The results of the People’s Panel discussion on unapproved serviced apartments are being considered by Council’s internal LEP/DCP Working group, as they continue to investigate various factors. A way forward is expected to be determined later in the year.
Building a better website
The People’s Panel gave detailed feedback on how we can improve our website, and provide better service to the community online. Thanks to the People’s Panel, the communications team have been able to help Council’s directors to make a more informed decision about future investments into our online service delivery. Council has been able to set priorities more in line with what the community wants, with the most-requested features slated to be developed first.
Organic waste collection (current topic… closes 3 August!!!)
The results of the focused discussion on organic waste forms part of broader engagement that Council is doing on waste services more generally. Your feedback will be included as a part of a report that is expected to be considered at the September Council Meeting.
In the next topic the Panel will look at social media and communication, so whether or not Council should expand its social media presence and how it can better communicate with the community.
Upcoming topics include:
- Revenue generating ideas for Council
- Service levels and expectations from Community on infrastructure
- Lake Albert
- Smoke Free Areas
